Truck Driver who Spilled Chickens in Crash is Cited for Wreckless Driving

The driver of the truck full of chickens that slammed into the stoplight at the intersection of Bayfront and Chase Street has been cited for careless driving. His brakes were working after all!

Eddie Gohlston said his brakes failed as he approached the intersection. An investigation revealed that 8 of 10 brakes on Gholston’s truck were working.

The truck driver will have to pay about $1,500 in fines.

Just a guess, but it sounds like Gholston was in a hurry to get the frozen chickens to the Port of Pensacola and he lost control of the truck as it made a right turn at a high rate of speed.

Haste makes a waste of chickens!
